Private universities
Private universities in Slovakia are increasingly popular and students choose them because of their individual approach. Tuition fees are usually paid before the start of the academic year and amounts range from 1500 € to 3000 € per academic year. There are currently 12 private universities in Slovakia, most of them are based in Bratislava.
Similarly to state universities, private universities currently also do not require entry exams. The study normally lasts 5 years (3 year bachelor’s degree programs and 2 year master’s degree programs in full-time form of study and 4 years bachelor’s and 3 years master’s degree programs in external form of study). Temporary residence for the purpose of study is always granted for 1 year (depending on the schedule of the academic year) and it is necessary to extend student´s temporary residence at the Foreign Police Department every year and provide proof of continuing studies for the next academic year.

What is not included in the STUDENT service package?
- Fee for submitting an application to a university – from 20 € to 60 € / application (the amount for the admission procedure is set by each faculty in a different amount);
- Fees for issuing criminal record with an apostille in your country, notarized copies of documents (criminal record, graduation certificate, grades), official translation of all documents – 20 €/ 1 page of document (extract from the criminal record, graduation certificate , grades);
- Fee for submitting an application to the Foreign Police Department – 7.50 € (students under 18 – 0 €);
- Courier services – we send all necessary documents you need to your address to issue D visa at the Slovak Embassy in your country;
- Fee for issuing card for temporary residence permit – 4.50 €;
- Fee for a medical examination of an alien (after obtaining a card for a temporary residence permit) – 150 €.
What documents do students need when applying to the Foreign Police Department:
- Valid passport;
- Two colour photographs 3,0 x 3,5 cm;
- Confirmation of admission for the study from a state administration authority or school;
- Criminal record statement with apostille from the country of the foreign national´s citizenship and the countries where he/she resided for more than 90 days during 6 consecutive months in the last 3 years;
- Document of financial coverage of residence in the amount of 12-times the statutory life minimum (min. 3300€), in the case of a student younger than 18 years of age, half of the amount;
- Fee for issuing a card for a temporary residence permit – 4.50 €.
