Slovakia, as one of the few countries within the European Union, offers free education  for foreign students in the national language – Slovak. One of the advantages of of studying in Slovakia is, that the majority of Slovak universities do not require entrance examination and after submitting all documents and fulfilling necessary conditions, applicants are automatically accepted for the study. Study programmes in Slovak universities normally take 5 years (3 years in bachelor’s degree programs and 2 years in master’s degree programs in a full-time form of study; and 4 years in bachelor’s and 3 years in master’s degree programs in an external form of study). The temporary residence permit for the purpose of study is always granted for 1 year (depending on the schedule of the academic year), and it is necessary to extend the permit at the Foreign Police every year and provide proof of continuing the study for the next academic year.

What is not included in the STUDENT service package?

 

  • Fee for submitting an application to a university: from 20 € to 60 € / application (the amount for the admission procedure is set by each faculty in a different amount);
  • Fees for issuing a criminal record with an apostille in your country, notarized copies of documents (criminal record, graduation certificate, grades), official translation of all documents: 20 €/ 1 page of document (extract from the criminal record, graduation certificate , grades);
  • Fee for submitting an application to the Foreign Police Department: 50 € (students under 18:  0 €);
  • Courier services – we send all necessary documents you need to your address to issue a D visa at the Slovak Embassy in your country
  • Fee for issuing the card for temporary residence permit: 50 €;
  • Fee for a medical examination of an alien (after obtaining the card for temporary residence permit): 150 €

What documents do students need when applying to the Foreign Police Department:

  1. Valid passport;
  2. Two colour photographs 3,0 x 3,5 cm;
  3. Confirmation of admission for the study from state administration authority or school;
  4. Criminal record statement with apostille from the country of the foreign national´s citizenship and the countries where he/she resided for more than 90 days during 6 consecutive months in the last 3 years;
  5. Document of financial coverage of residence in the amount of statutory life minimum for each month of residence (min. 3300 €), in the case of a student under 18, half of the amount;
  6. Fee for issuing the card for temporary residence permit: 4,50/24,50 €
